Mahindra Thar’s new-gen model, which has built a name for itself in the off-road sub-meter SUV, has been very successful in India.
The delivery to the customer started a few days ago. So far, the company has booked over 20,000 units in India.
The new generation Mahindra Thar comes with a different design, targeting the customers who like adventure driving.
Agni Inc., the official distributor of Mahindra for Nepal, is preparing to bring Thar during the Tihar festival.
This is the first time the company has given a petrol engine.
New Mahindra Thar History
The CJ3A was Mahindra’s first SUV released in the year 1949. Many features included in this vehicle can still be found in the latest Thar.
Back in those days, when Mahindra brought the off-road SUV by collaborating with Jeep, many appreciated it, and it was an instant hit in India.
This vehicle was broadly utilized in the movies around then as it can be used from provincial territories to bumpy streets.
Mahindra then launched the CJ3B variation in 1953, as soon the production began after four years.
It was the first time that the company had acquired a new engine called ‘Will Huracan.’
They used this engine because it used to be very powerful at that time.
After selling these models for quite a while, the company launched the MM 540 model in 1985.
While the past model didn’t have a doorway, it brought the doorway system along with an AC, which was more secure than any time in recent memory.
After 11 years, it was recreated into another look and brought to showcase.
The company launched it in 1996 under the name ‘Mahindra Classic.’
It was to advertise with excellent execution, both off-road trails and on the streets.
Following 14 years of carrying the exemplary to the market, Mahindra had taken a redesigned SUV with its new name.
The rough terrain SUV launched in 2010 under the name ‘Mahindra Thar’ was very popular and liked by many in Nepal. In 2015.
Likewise, in 2019, the ‘Thar 700’ version was brought to the market.

New Generation Thar 2020 Overview
Mahindra has disclosed yet another age of the 70-year-old model.
The new generation Thar brought by the company has been given both petroleum and diesel motors.
Previously, only the diesel engine variant was offered.
Now the buyers can have both options to buy Thar, the petroleum, and diesel engines variants.

The upcoming 2020 model Thar includes the latest ladder frame chassis. It still has its noticeable signature body outlook, equipped with the latest suspension.
Alongside its mark configuration signals, round-shaped headlights, broad and massive wheels, seven-opening grille, and square-shaped tail-lights make it more tempting and engaging.
The new-gen Thar will also be available in a factory-built hardtop along with the soft-top.
The interiors of the new-gen Thar is packed full of the latest features.
It includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility technology,
There’s a speaker mounted on the roof, a reverse camera, an instrument cluster with a multi-info color display, electric windows, cruise controls, cup-holder, and power-folding mirrors.
Besides, there will be other, more interesting, and exciting interior features for the customers.
The new Thar comes with a front-facing rear foldable seat, and the company built hardtop and the soft-top.
Thar Engine Specifications
The 2020 Thar is available in two engines, Petrol and Diesel.
Petrol based Thar has a displacement of the 1997cc, 2.0-liter mStallion engine that delivers maximum power of 150 bhp @ 5000 rpm and the maximum torque of 320 nm @ 1500-3000 rpm.
The diesel-based Thar has the same displacement as the 1997cc and 2.2-liter mHawk unit engine delivering the maximum power of 130bhp @3750 rpm and maximum torque of 300nm @ 1600-2800rpm.
It is available in manual and automatic transmission with a 6-speed manual gearbox and Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque automatic converter.
Also, the four-wheel-drive option will be there in both petrol and diesel versions of Thar.
The new Thar has a total length of 3985 mm. It has an average height of 1844 mm, and 1855 mm in width.
From the side view, it has got 37* of departure angle, a break-over angle of 27*, and an approach angle of 42*.
The two versions offered by Thar: AX and LX.
The AX version:
The new 2020 new-gen Thar AX will be available in the petrol-manual and diesel manual form only.
The AX version is equipped with a 6-seat structure along with the soft-top.
It also gets 16-inch steel wheels garnished in white, power windows, manual HVAC standard central locking, and rear parking sensors.
The LX version:
This version will be available in the diesel-automatic form, diesel-manual, and the petrol-auto form.
The LX version consists of standard features like a 4-seats design, alloy wheels of 18-inch, LED DRLs, fog lamps, driver’s seat adjustable in 8-ways, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, monitoring system indicating tire pressure, automatic ESP auto AC and the hardtop.
There are six different colors available for New Thar– Mystic Copper, Aquamarine, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, Rocky Beige, and Red Rage.
Will Compete against
The new-gen Mahindra Thar will compete against the new Force Gurkha. The new Gurkha will also be available in a few months in the Indian market.
